Hospital Gardens Have Medical Benefits

The March 2012 issue of Scientific American has an article "Nature that Nurtures" about the proven healing benefits of a garden. As referenced in the article, young patients at Boston Children's Hospital enjoy the Prouty Garden :

In Harvard, The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden is a testament to the human connection with a garden's beauty and sensory experiences.

In my own life I observed how much my mother-in-law enjoyed flowers in her window boxes and flowers in her room during her decline from Alzheimer's disease. She loved sitting out in the patio garden during warm weather.

  1. And Carlene says Meg has enjoyed getting outside in the garden at St. Jude's, with its butterflies and dragonflies.
